My time living in Paris was undoubtedly one of the most profound periods of my life. I experienced so much for the first time, or in an entirely new way: Love, sex, poetry, art, romance, violence, death, blood, alcoholism, friendship, estrangement, beauty, degradation, religion, nihilism, hatred, acceptance, isolation, community, depression, happiness, nightlife, language, culture, etc. So when I had the chance to return to Paris it flooded me with old emotions and memories. I found myself embarking on "memory tourism" of a sort. I was haunting old locations I once frequented. I was staring at spots where someone's body had been, no longer. I was traveling through my memory while in the present. In this series you see many mundane things― a door, a street, a restaurant― yet for me there is intense connotation behind each photograph.
